Non-ponytail metal

Quirky, unconventional and unexpected types of metal for cynics accustomed to leftist media valuing surface over composition.

Supuration - The Cube

Carbonized - Disharmonization

Pestilence - Spheres

I agree, Supuration makes a statement of their genre with Room Seven. This is progressive rock band with popular "heavy/death" sound and vocals.

SUP - "Bangs in My Head"

Supuration/S.U.P maintain a long standing fan base and variety of music genres rooted from grindcore.

Surface is medium and not objective composition.

Carbonized - For The Security

Disharmonization followed what was grindcore as a genre.

For The Security is metal.

Pestilence turned quirky on Spheres.

Pestilence - "The Penance" (1987)

I like Spheres. It has some great material and atmospheric experimentation that isn't just droning. The real problem is too much use of circular song structure and reliance on lead guitars plus atmospheric parts for song structure, which ages quickly as a technique.
